The short answer
The supplied save routine stores the active build’s settings, selected build number, global Zen Colour, and storage signature. It does not save every game setting or external controller profile.

Stored fields include shooting modes and timings, rhythm speed, remap, Turbo Shot, Quickstop, dribble mode and directions, release cue settings, stamina, Dunk Assist, Defense Assist, and Instant Triggers. Your in-game jumper and controller-app profile remain separate settings outside this file.
Use the documented save action
Close the main menu with Circle/B to save. The custom editor also saves when returning to the main menu, and build switching saves the outgoing build. A visible save notice confirms the menu action; a reopen or reconnect check verifies the settings you care about remained in the expected context.
Keep your own recovery notes
Stored settings do not replace a written backup before reprogramming or device recovery. Record the file, Zen slot, and build together. If a reset or unsupported file change alters storage, the product cannot recover an in-game setup that was never part of its saved fields.
